I saw the car lot from the Jalop post about that drug bust in Oaklahoma. Most of the JDM cars cannot be titled, registered or driven on US roadways...so what the fuck is the point then of bidding? I’d be basically cutting the government a check for zero reason

Worse, they’re ALL Somebody Else’s Project. That Lancer VI is super fucked electrically - check the trunk photos. That’s the rear ECU harness dangling loose, meaning multiple missing ECUs. One of them being an airbag control module (yellow plug.)

Either hide them until they’re old enough / legal (though some already are) or a great parts car, whether for your own project or to ebay around the world.

Typically you’re given a grace period d uring which the car needs to be exported out of the country. In theory, you could rent a storage space in, say, Canada, export the car there, store it until it’s 25 years old, then import into the US. Saves you from having to pay to have it shipped on a boat from Japan.
